Tooth decay is the number one chronic childhood disease and nearly 100 percent preventable. That’s why events like Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) Day are so important. This year GKAS takes place this Friday, February 6th.
GKAS is sponsored nationally by the American Dental Association and locally by the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA) and the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA). GKAS is meant to provide services to children ages 12 and under who could not otherwise afford dental treatment and do not have a “dental home.”
Dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and other dental personnel open their offices and volunteer their time and services to provide dental care to children who often times go without routine care.
Services provided include hygiene instruction, cleanings, screenings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, fluoride treatments, oral health education and much more.
